Cliff Stewart was a lightly framed (178cm, 72kg) wingman who came in for a lot of physical punishment on the field but seemingly took it all in his stride. Not always a regular in the Carlton team he nevertheless produced some performances of great vim and purpose over the course of his 78 game career between 1962 and 1968. He scored six goals. In 1967 he helped a Victorian ‘B’ team to a victory over Tasmania in Hobart.
After leaving the Blues Stewart played for Diamond Valley League club Eltham. He was a member of the club’s 1969 and 1970 premiership-winning combination,s and won consecutive best and fairest awards in 1970-1.
