An import from Scotch College, Victoria, Colin Davey probably exceeded expectations during his time with Subiaco, with some observers rating him a ‘supreme’ ruckman. He emphasised this status by winning his club’s fairest and best award in his debut season of 1949. His Subi career comprised 44 WANFL games from 1949 to 1950 and in 1953. He spent the 1951 and 1952 playing 30 games and kicking 34 goals for Collingwood. He played VFL finals football both years but was not selected in the Magpies’ 1952 grand final team.
