Colin Eales was a determined and courageous wingman and half forward flanker in 56 VFL games for Geelong from 1963 to 1969. He scored 24 goals. Early in his career with the Cats he struggled to win a regular place in the team, and in fact played in back to back reserves premiership teams in 1963-4. In 1966 he became a first choice senior player, and the following year lined up on a half forward flank as Geelong lost one of the all time classic grand finals to Richmond. After leaving the Cats he undertook a series of coaching assignments in country areas of Victoria.
