Dave Baxter, who hailed from Bordertown, was a capable all round footballer who moved well and could kick effectively with both feet. He played 47 VFL games for Richmond and scored 55 goals from 1934 to 1936. In the Tigers’ 1934 grand final defeat of South Melbourne he lined up at centre half forward. He was also able to take a turn in ruck. A back injury precipitated his retirement at the age of 25.
