A firm fan favourite at North Melbourne, Donald McDonald was a tough, aggressive footballer who could hold down a key attacking or defensive position as well as play in the ruck. He played 155 games and kicked 165 goals for the Kangas between 1982 and 1992 before heading to Werribee as captain- coach, where he oversaw the club’s first VFA premiership in 1993, as well as making a total of 46 appearances and scoring 98 goals from 1993 to 1995.
