Doug Reynolds played a big part in Footscray’s breakthrough premiership win in 1954. Prominently listed among the team’s best players in the second semi final defeat of Geelong he was again rated highly after contributing a goal from his wing to the Bulldogs’ 15.12 to 7.9 grand final victory over Melbourne. He arrived at Footscray from Spotswood’s under 18s where had twice enjoyed premiership success as well as winning a best and fairest award in 1951. From 1952 to 1958 he played 80 VFL games for the Dogs and scored 17 goals. He crossed to Richmond midway through the 1958 season, and added a final 15 appearances plus a couple of goals over the course of that year and the next. In 1960-1 he played with Sorrento, winning the club’s best and fairest award in the latter season.
