Recruited by Richmond from University Blues Frank Dunin made his VFL debut in 1953. After a slow start to his career, which saw him play just eight senior games in his first season and none whatsoever in his second, he developed into a handy player, capable of occupying any key position. When he left the Tigers at the end of the 1959 season he had played 69 games and kicked 30 goals. He later played for Dookie College and, after retiring as a player, coached University Blacks and the Victorian amateur state team.
