Glenn Elliott made his VFL debut for St Kilda in 1969 and between then and 1977 went on to play a total of 138 senior games and kick 69 goals for the club. During his first few seasons he tended to struggle and it was felt by some that he lacked the pace necessary to succeed at the top level. However, after star Saints centreman Ian Stewart moved to Richmond in 1971 Elliott was tried in the pivot and his form blossomed. By the middle of the decade he was widely acknowledged as the finest centreman in the VFL. 

Elliott may have lacked pace, but he knew how to win the ball, and typically racked up significant possession tallies. A best and fairest winner for the Saints in 1974 he also represented Victoria 4 times. In 1977 he suffered a serious knee injury which effectively brought his career with St Kilda to an end. However, in 1979 he made a comeback with Melbourne for whom he played 15 games and kicked 11 goals that year before crossing to Port Adelaide in 1980 for whom he managed just a solitary senior game. Between 1982 and 1985 he coached West Torrens but the Eagles struggled, finishing ninth out of ten teams each season. 

Glenn Elliott has remained involved in sport and, following stints as CEO of North Adelaide and Adelaide United (soccer) took on the same role at Glenelg in 2015.
