Equally at home on a wing, a half forward flank or as a rover, Graeme Schultz joined Essendon from Warracknabeal and gave the club sterling service in two stints. After commencing with the Bombers in 1971 he embarked on a six season stint with Subiaco in 1975, brought about because of study requirements. He returned to Essendon in 1981 and was a member that year of the Dons’ night series premiership team. Two years later in what was his last season he helped the club to a grand final triumph in reserve grade.

Graeme Schultz played a total of 162 league games comprised of 77 in the VFL with Essendon and 85 in the WANFL with West Perth. He had a keen goal sense as evidenced by his career tallies of 115 goals for the Bombers and 137 for Subi. He moved to Footscray in 1984 but did not play a senior game and midway through the season he crossed to Camberwell in the VFA. In 1985 and 1986 he was captain-coach of Maryborough in the Ballarat Football League.
