Harrie Hattam was a prominent player for St Kilda prior to as well as partly during the first world war. A defender mostly used on a half back flank or in a back pocket he was deployed in the latter position in the losing challenge final of 1913 against Fitzroy. By general consent, the most outstanding feature of his play was his kicking, which could cover great distances.

Hattam’s Saints career comprised 84 VFL games in which he registered two goals between 1910 and 1915. After the war he played for VFA club Brighton.
