Melbourne recruited Jack Collins from CBC St Kilda, and, after a slow start to his career, he developed in to a more than handy performer. A wingman in the Fuchsias’ 1926 challenge final defeat of Collingwood, he later was transformed into a redoubtable defender. He represented a Victoria B side against New South Wales in 1929. From 1923 to 1931 he played 127 VFL games for Melbourne and scored seven goals.
