Jamie Turner was a capable if sometimes underrated utility who gave sterling service to Collingwood in 160 games, in which he registered 33 goals, between 1984 and 1993. The son of former Magpie premiership player Ken Turner he experienced the elation of playing in a winning grand final himself in 1990. Capable of playing in a wide range of positions, he could reasonably described as a coach’s delight in an era when versatility among players was much rarer, and consequently more highly valued, than it is nowadays.
