A tough customer who knew how to use his weight, but also boasted a fair amount of natural ability, Footscray's Bairnsdale recruit Jim Edmond was one of the foremost Bulldogs players of his generation. Between 1977 and 1985 he played a total of 154 VFL games, booting 226 goals. A fine overhead mark, despite standing only 183cm tall, and an accurate kick for goal, he played most of his football as a half forward flanker. He was captain from 1983 to 1985. After leaving Footscray he had brief stints with Sydney (17 games and 19 goals in 1986) and Brisbane (17 games, 42 goals in 1987-88).
