John Georgiades was an abundantly skilled half forward who could be a match winner. This was arguably the case in the 1988 WAFL grand final when he contributed six goals to Subiaco’s winning total of 19.8 (to Claremont’s 8.12). Somewhat contentiously, however, the Simpson Medal for best afield went to Georgiades’ team mate Mick Lee, only listed as seventh best in some sources.
Between 1986 and 1988 and from 1991 to 1993 Georgiades played a total of 103 games and registered 168 goals. He was arguably at his best during the aforementioned 1988 premiership year when he polled the impressive tally of 25 Sandover votes.
From 1989 until part of the way through the 1991 season Georgiades played 15 AFL games and booted 27 goals for Footscray without really enhancing his reputation.
