Carlton's Kevin 'Racehorse' Hall was, as the nickname suggests, especially renowned for his exceptional pace. Capable of operating almost anywhere on the ground he probably played his best football on a half back flank from where he would embark on long, weaving runs into the forward lines. Carlton had to fight off opposition from Footscray to obtain his signature but once he arrived at Princes Park he quickly made himself at home. He made his league debut in 1963 and went on to play 169 VFL games for the Blues including the victorious grand finals of 1968, 1970 and 1972. He retired after the grand final loss to Richmond in 1973, a match in which he was knocked out cold. In 1999 Kevin Hall was inducted into the Carlton Hall of Fame.
