Kym Koster was a tough, pacy, creative footballer who commenced his senior career with South Adelaide in the SANFL for whom he played 55 games and kicked 5 goals between 1991 and 1993. Drafted by Footscray, he became an important player for the Bulldogs, playing 38 AFL games and registering 13 goals in 1994 and 1995. Footscray would dearly have liked to retain him but Koster was determined to return home to South Australia and in 1995, having been traded in return for a number 9 draft pick, he began a six year association with the Adelaide Crows. After an injury interrupted debut season he developed into a key player who made significant contributions to the club's 1997 and 1998 premiership victories.

Koster left the Crows in 2000 after playing 95 games and kicking 31 goals. He played a final season in the SANFL with Glenelg in 2002.
