Geelong recruited Leo Dean from North Geelong and he gave the club sound service in 60 VFL games from 1935 to 1941 and in 1944-5, in the course of which he registered just a single goal. Of fairly solid build at 168cm and 73kg he was a smooth ball handler who usually disposed of it well. Most of his football was played on a wing with occasional forays elsewhere, and he was adept at making good position and combining well with team mates. He played once for Victoria.
