Geelong’s Les Fairbairn was a constructive, skilful and tireless ruckman who stood out in what was a dismal period for the club. Boasting a fair amount of pace, he loved running with the ball, and almost invariably used it effectively. Strong overhead, he was also an accomplished exponent of the place kick. His VFL career with Geelong comprised 68 games played in 1906 and from 1910 to 1914.
