From Ararat, Les Meek began his league career with St Kilda as a forward, but was soon converted into a dependable half back flanker. He debuted with the Saints in the opening round of the 1941 season and was a regular senior player both that year and the next before struggling to keep his spot. He ended up playing 49 VFL games and kicking 11 goals from 1941 to 1943 and in 1946-7. He missed the 1944 and 1945 seasons in their entirety whilst undertaking military service.
