A tough defender, mostly deployed across half back, Marcus Seecamp joined Fitzroy from East Perth in 1991 and debuted for the club the following year. He played 51 AFL games and booted 10 goals in three seasons with the Lions before being traded to Melbourne, the team he had actually supported as a boy, in exchange for Martin Pike and Wayne Lamb.

Seecamp proved himself a useful footballer with the Demons but his time at the club was probably most notable for the frequemcy of his visits to the Tribunal. He made 89 appearances in a Melbourne jumper, kicking 8 goals, with a hamstring injury sustained early in the 2000 season eventually forcing his departure from the League scene.

In 2001 Seecamp followed team mate Jamie Shanahan to the ACT to join Ainslie where Shanahan had been installed as coach.
