After a brief stint with Preston during which he played five games in 1976-7 Mark McKeon joined Collingwood, but never played a senior game for the club. After training with the Magpies over the summer he was traded to Melbourne in a straight swap for Ted Carroll. He made his senior league debut for the Demons in round 14 1978 and went on to play six games for the season. He remained on the club’s list in 1979 but did not play at senior level again. The 1980 season saw McKeon back at Preston where he remained until 1985, ultimately playing 59 games and scoring 49 goals for the club. He was a key figure in the Bullants’ grand final victories over Geelong West in 1983 and Frankston the following year.
