From Geelong West, Marty Lynch was a cheeky, courageous rover and small forward who bored in hard for the ball and constantly shouted encouragement to his team mates. From 1947 to 1951 he played 43 VFL games and scored 63 goals for Geelong and was somewhat unfortunate in that he fell out of favour in his last season, a premiership year for the Cats. He crossed to South Melbourne in 1952 and added a final eight appearances and 11 goals before retiring.
