After playing just two games with Collingwood in 1914 Maurie Sheehy crossed to Fairfield Football Club where he remained until resuming with the Magpies in 1916. A solid defender, he played in no fewer than four Collingwood grand final teams, but only in 1919, against Richmond, were the Magpies successful. Sheehy played 110 VFL games and kicked 22 goals for Collingwood in 1914 and from 1916 to 1922. He later coached VFA club Northcote.
