A hefty (187cm, 92kg) defender who, as it were, ‘took no prisoners’, Michael Brennan was a key member of West Coast premiership teams in 1992 and 1994, and high in the best players list after the latter grand final. Between 1987 and 1995 he played a total of 179 V/AFL games for the Eagles and kicked 20 goals. He won a best clubman award in his final season. Prior to commencing with West Coast, and on intermittent occasions thereafter, Brennan lined up with East Fremantle, for whom he played 78 WAFL games and scored five goals between 1983 and 1993. In 1997 he was named in the Sharks’ official ‘Team of the 20th Century’.
