Having worked his way up through the grades at North Melbourne ruckman Mick Howell made his senior league debut in round three 1967, the first of seven appearances he was to make for the year. In 1968 and 1969 he was a regular senior player, and when he left the club in 1970 his four season stint had seem him play 53 VFL games and score 15 goals.
Howell died at the young age of 35 in 1985.
