Norm Macleod was a handy wingman recruited by Collingwood from Northcote District. After playing just one game in his debut season of 1927 he managed to hold down a regular place in the side the following year, culminating in involvement in the Magpies’ 13.18 to 9.9 grand final defeat of Richmond. It was very much the pinnacle of his career, because although he continued with Collingwood until 1932 he was essentially just a fringe player for most of the remainder of his time there. His VFL career comprised 58 games during which he failed to register a goal.
