A product of University Blacks, Pat Cash was a useful performer in quite poor Hawthorn sides during the first half of the 1950s. A forward, he played 58 games for the Hawks and booted 75 goals from 1951 to 1955. He was the club’s top goal kicker in his debut season, albeit with the comparatively meagre tally of 26 goals. Pat Cash’s son, who bears the same name, was a professional tennis player who won the men’s singles title at Wimbledon in 1987.
