Recruited from Sunshine, before that club had joined the VFA, Pat Hand played 63 VFL games and kicked two goals for Footscray between 1943 and 1949. A serviceable defender, he was a mainstay of the side which made a rare finals appearance in his second season, but thereafter he made more sporadic appearances.
