Percy Ellin was a long kicking wingman and half back flanker who also occasionally played at full back. He was once credited with a place kick of 78 yards (68.75 metres). He commenced his senior football career with East Brighton where he played in 1903-4 before being recruited by St Kilda. He was an important player for the Saints in 70 VFL games from 1905 to 1910, in which he bagged 19 goals. After four rounds of the 1910 season he crossed to Richmond but only made a single appearance before leaving the VFL scene behind. From 1912 to 1915 he rounded off his career with 49 VFA games and 22 goals for Prahran.
