After struggling to maintain his place in Essendon’s senior team in his debut season of 1968, Peter Daniel became a regular in the side from the following year. Capable of occupying key positions at both ends of the ground, he played precisely 100 games and kicked 54 goals for the Bombers over the course of a seven season VFL career.
The 1975 season saw Daniel assuming the coaching reins at North Launceston whilst also continuing as a player. He played 117 NTFA games for the Robins in seven seasons and steered them to no fewer than five premierships in that time. He later had spells coaching City-South, South Launceston, Subiaco and Clarence without ever managing to recapture the success he had achieved with North Launceston. He also coached, and played for, the Tasmanian state team.
On the strength of both his playing and coaching achievements in the Apple Isle Peter Daniel was inducted into the Tasmanian Football Hall of Fame.
