Peter German was a strong, solidly built centreman or on-baller with a penchant for ploughing his way through heavy traffic. He arrived at North Melbourne from Oak Park and played under nineteens football prior to making his senior league debut as a nineteen year old in 1984. He developed into a key player for the Kangas, playing 185 games and kicking 201 goals in eleven seasons. As the numbers suggest he was always a danger near goal and indeed his kicking in general was excellent. Since retiring as a player Peter German has gone on to enjoy a successful and highly varied career as a coach.
