Originally from Port Fairy, Scott Crow was a useful on-baller who was hard at the ball and particularly strong overhead for his modest height of 179cm. He was drafted by Hawthorn in 1990, but had to wait until 1993 before making his senior debut. Thereafter, he struggled to hold down a place in the powerful Hawks line-up, and after managing just 13 appearances and two goals in three seasons he was traded to Collingwood.

The early part of his career with the Magpies saw him producing easily the most impressive football of his career, but by 1999 he had fallen out of favour and ended up being de-listed. He had played 62 serviceable AFL games in a black and white jumper and bagged 35 goals.
