After struggling to make the grade at St Kilda where he played just 7 games between 1988 and 1990 Sean Simpson crossed to Geelong where he quickly found his feet. The Cats used him in a variety of roles but he was perhaps best known for his effectiveness as a tagger. His 114 games for Geelong included the losing grand final of 1992 against West Coast. He retired at the end of a 1998 season which had seen him struggle to hold down a place in the seniors.
