Stephen Lunn commenced his senior football career with VFA first division side Geelong West. The last of his nine games for the Roosters was the 1979 grand final in which they lost by eight points to Coburg, despite a glittering all round performance by Lunn. The 1980 season saw him at Geelong in the VFL where he played 48 games and scored 38 goals over three seasons, impressing greatly with his speed, flair, strong marking ability, and goal kicking prowess. He rounded off his VFL career with 21 games and five goals for Footscray in 1983-4.
Stephen Lunn is the son of former Geelong and Essendon footballer Ron Lunn.
