Originally from St Alban’s, Steven Kretiuk played for Footscray/Western Bulldogs for twelve seasons (1992-2003) but, because of being sidelined by injury so frequently, he only managed 170 senior appearances, booting 11 goals.

A tough, courageous, hard at both ball and man defender, he might be said to have typified the Bulldogs’ style and approach of the time. He clearly demonstrated what an important player he was to the team in 1994 when he enjoyed an injury-free sequence of 24 games, and ran second in the club’s best and fairest voting.

Between 2008 and 2012 Kretiuk was coach of TAC Cup team Western Jets. Since 2014 he has coached Hoppers Crossing in the Western Region Football League.
