Tony Beers was a talented all rounder who lined up at centre half back in Claremont’s 1987 and 1989 premiership winning teams. He also played numerous fine games across half forward. In 1988 he represented his adopted state of Western Australia in a match against the VFA at Subiaco. Prior to joining the Tigers he played five games and kicked one goal for Collingwood in 1982-83. He took a couple of seasons to adjust to conditions in Perth, but once he did he became a very handy player indeed.

The Claremont phase of Beers’ career spanned the years 1984 to 1990 and saw him register 106 WAFL games and 89 goals. His father Brian and brother Mark also played for Collingwood.
