Troy Lehmann was a talented, productive midfielder who encountered injury problems comparatively early in his career, which significantly undermined his impact.

He began with North Adelaide in 1989 and was taken by Collingwood at that year’s National Draft. However, he opted to remain in South Australia for one more season before joining the Magpies.

His first year at Victoria Park was highly promising as he averaged 20 disposals a game and produced some genuinely top quality performances. However, over the next couple of seasons he was repeatedly hampered by hamstring troubles, and at the end of that time, having played 31 games and booted 24 goals, he was deemed surplus to requirements.

The 1994 season found him at Brisbane where he performed solidly, playing 13 games and registering 10 goals, but he was not retained. His next and final port of call was his original stamping ground of Prospect Oval in 1997. Lehmann played on with North Adelaide for three more seasons, taking his final games tally with the club to 88, and the number of goals kicked to 54. In his first season back with the Roosters he represented South Australia in a win over the ACT in Canberra.
