From Geelong Football League club North Shore, Wade Chapman was a vibrant, purposeful wingman who attacked the ball hard with little fear for his own safety. He also used the ball extremely well. Swans coach Rodney Eade once likened him to an old man when out on the training track, but Chapman belied this assessment with his full on approach in matches. He was handicapped by injuries late in a career which saw him play 51 AFL games and score 19 goals from 1994 to 1999. He was a member of the 1996 grand final team but, in common with a fair few team mates, underperformed badly as the Swans plummeted to a 43 point defeat at the hands of North Melbourne. Chapman spent the 2000 season with Port Adelaide but did not play a senior game.
