Hawthorn recruited Alle De Wolde from Box Hill Baptist Pioneers and he gave the club dependable service in 97 VFL games between 1975 and 1982, kicking 14 goals. A back pocket specialist, he was dependable and steady rather than flashy. The highlight of his career came in 1978 when he lined up in his customary back pocket position as the Hawks overcame North Melbourne in the grand final by three goals.
