A handy forward and half forward, Andrew Taylor enjoyed a varied career in two states. His first taste of league football came in 1983 when he played a single game for Footscray. Three years later he surfaced at Woodville where he added 53 SANFL games and 73 goals in 1986-7, with his form being good enough to prompt Brisbane to draft him. He spent four seasons with the Bears, making 31 senior appearances and registering 13 goals.

Taylor’s last port of call was also his most productive as he returned to Woodville Oval, now home to the recently merged Woodville-West Torrens Football Club. In the 1993 grand final he lined up at full forward and contributed three goals to the Eagles’ 17.20 to 7.7 defeat of Norwood. He was the club’s top goal kicker in 1993 and 1994 and joint top goal kicker in 1995. In a match against North Adelaide in 1994 he posted a club record 12 majors. His efforts during this early phase in the Eagles’ history earned him inclusion in their official ‘Team of the Decade’.
