After commencing his senior career with St Marys, where he won back to back best and fairest awards, Benny Vigona moved to South Fremantle in 1977 and rapidly developed into one of the WANFL competition’s most exciting talents. Initially used mainly either on a wing or at half forward, he boasted sublime ball skills, explosive pace, and a penchant for the spectacular.
Later in his career he was shifted to a half back flank with considerable success, reinforcing his undoubted ability with a new found consistency in the process. In a decade with South, Vigona amassed 165 league games and represented Western Australia on four occasions.
