Pre 1965 stats are for selected matches only

AFL: 6,465th player to appear, 3,350th most games played, 7,991st most goals kickedGeelong: 574th player to appear, 249th most games played, 687th most goals kicked

Nicknamed ‘The Pin’ because of his light (183cm, 76kg) build, Bob Gazzard nevertheless held down the full back position - one which presupposes a fair degree of strength and aerial prowess - with aplomb. His overhead marking and spoiling ability were impressive, and he also kicked well, another pre-requisite for a top ranking full back. Between 1954 and 1959 he played 71 VFL games and kicked two goals for Geelong whilst witnessing a gradual decline in the club’s fortunes including consecutive wooden spoons in 1957-8.
