Brendan McCormack was more than adequately talented, but perhaps lacked the commitment necessary to reach the very top rank as a player. He also suffered a knee injury in his second season which undoubtedly held him back. Nevertheless, he was a steady performer for Fitzroy in 44 games between 1989 and 1992, during which he kicked 26 goals. In 1993 he crossed to Brisbane where he saw out his AFL career with 12 appearances and nine goals over two seasons.
