He may not have been in the very first rank as a player but key forward Brian Rundle was still an asset to predominantly weak Glenelg sides of the 1950s. Early in his career he was prevented from making his mark by the presence at the club of Colin Churchett, one of the greatest full forwards in SANFL history. After Churchett retired in 1954 the way was left clear for Rundle and he did well, topping the Bays’ goal kicking list in 1954 with 38 goals and in 1955 with 56. Between 1950 and 1956 Brian Rundle played 85 games for Glenelg and booted 178 goals.
