Talented wingman though he undoubtedly was, Bruce Raymond had to be satisfied with the role of fringe player at Sturt. From 1964 to 1966 and between 1969 and 1972 he played just 70 senior games and scored nine goals for the Double Blues, with the undoubted highlight of his career coming with his selection in the winning 1970 grand final team against Sturt. Had he played for any of the other nine SANFL clubs it is highly probable he would have been a first choice senior player for much if not all of his career.
