Charlie Milburn was a speedy wingman who played in Collingwood’s losing grand finals of 1925 against Geelong, when he was one of the Magpies’ best players, and 1926 against Melbourne. Finally, in 1927 he got to experience the thrill of premiership success as he helped Collingwood to a 2.13 to 1.7 grand final defeat of Richmond. It proved to be the last of his 60 games for the Magpies as he was cleared to Stawell in 1928, before making a fleeting return to league action in 1929 when he made nine appearances for Essendon.
