Forward Craig Burton gave good service to two SANFL clubs. Equally capable of holding down a key forward position or occupying a half forward flank he joined West Adelaide from Plympton High and played 43 games and kicked 48 goals for the club from 1982 to 1986. He crossed to North Adelaide in 1987 and could not have timed the move better as the Roosters went top that year, trouncing Glenelg in the grand final with Burton contributing three goals from his half forward flank. Four years later he was once again a premiership player as North accounted for his former club West in the grand final. Lining up at full forward Burton made a significant contribution to the win with four goals.

The North Adelaide phase of Craig Burton's career saw him play 129 SANFL games and boot 239 goals. He was the Roosters' top goal kicker with 52 goals in 1992. His son, Ryan Burton, is a current AFL player with Port Adelaide having previously played for Hawthorn.
