Cyril Powell was a full back who was strong overhead and a very good kick. He played in the VFA with Northcote (34 games, four goals in 1922-3) and Geelong Association (47 games, four goals, 1924-6) before being recruited by Richmond in 1927. He only played half a dozen VFL games for the Tigers before transferring to South Melbourne, where he added a final 20 appearances in 1928-9. During his two club VFL career he failed to register a single goal.
