Dale Dickson hit the ground running when he commenced with Melbourne in 1982, but after a couple of excellent seasons his form fell away. Consequently when the Dees had to choose which of their players to make available to the fledgling Brisbane Bears few people were surprised to find that Dickson was nominated.
In three seasons with the Bears he played 30 VFL games and booted three goals to add to the 56 games and 20 goals registered with Melbourne.
After playing his early football with the Dees he became something of a jack-of-all-trades with an emphasis on defensive roles.
