Over the course of his 159 game, 89 goal SANFL career from 1985 to 1995 David Hutton was a comparatively unsung member of no fewer than five Port Adelaide premiership teams. Used principally as a nullifying defender early in his career he revealed a more creative side to his play after being deployed on a wing, the position he filled in each of his winning grand finals. Pacy and direct, with good disposal skills, he was in many ways the quintessential ‘quiet achiever’.
